This 6-week experience explores Ayurveda, a natural system of medicine originating in India more than 5,000 years ago. The focus is on the five elements of life: ether/space, air/wind, fire, water, and earth being components relating to our body’s physical and mental states. This philosophy of healing is also known as lifestyle or earth medicine as well as mind/body medicine. Discovering the connection of our mind, body, and spirit can lead to healing and an awareness of our true selves! We will share how the doshas, types of energy that circulate in the body, are responsible for health and life balance. Nourishment in the form of food as medicine, meal timing, and awareness enhances your proper digestive processes within the body. Healthy absorption of essential nutrients, sensory perceptions and life experiences contribute to balanced well-being! Most acute and chronic health conditions can be improved with lifestyle modifications including symptoms relating to fatigue, chronic discomfort, hormonal/perimenopausal imbalances, dermatological issues, stress/worry, sleep disturbances, struggles with weight loss, and digestive/nutritional challenges. Throughout the course we will explore Ayurvedic doshas/constitutions relating to the seasons, a digestion and tasting session, essential oils, balancing of hormonal symptoms throughout the lifespan, Ayurveda and chronic health conditions, and a hands-on experience of Abhyanga herbal oil self-massage. I’m truly looking forward to sharing Ayurvedic wisdom with you! For ages 18+
