There are many tax considerations and nuances associated with pensions that one should plan for many years in advance. This seminar will cover the following topics:
- Understanding the tax effects of the pension
- The advantages / disadvantages of taking contributions & interest
- The advantages / disadvantages of each of the other options
- Understanding the concepts of taxes in retirement (which are usually HIGHER, yes I said higher, once they retire) and how to mitigate some of these issues. Ironically, we had someone in our seminar last night who also went to the PSERS one, and they have requested that we meet with them to also talk about their pensions.
- How the Social Security system works and strategies for collecting benefits and when
- How Medicare premiums and IRMAA work
- Taxation and ramifications of the different options of PSERS, etc.
